Marilyn Clark - CEO and
Founder
Single herself for over ten
years, Ms Clark recognized that online dating, singles dances
and bar hopping didn't produce the results singles were looking
for. Online dating, by its nature does everything but allow a
person to see and smell another person, the things that combine
into the chemistry, that magic phenomenon that makes two people
want each other. Singles dances seem to be filled with
"regulars", those people who have never been married, or
probably won't ever be married again.
Dances
become their weekly recreation. Serious minded singles are
looking for someone to fall in love with and get married to,
someone to be with for the rest of their lives. Bars are the
worst yet. Those dark, smoke-drenched places where people drink
alcohol to relieve their depression, makes a person more
depressed than ever. Ms Clark's enthusiasm for her new corporate
darling is contagious.
An entrepreneur for most of her life, Ms Clark is one of those
people who has a new business idea every other day. She believes
in writing down all her ideas and, as time permits, developing
the best ideas into successful companies which she then proceeds
to sell. "My accountant, Tory Brown, once said to me, "Your
talent lies in ideas and concepts and that's a lucrative
market." Since Ms Clark only briefly worked for anyone other
than herself, she enjoys the mind bending challenge of earning a
living by organizing and creating new and/or better business
models.
Since the onset of online dating, she has conceptualized
many different types of singles sites, but until the concept of
an international posting and searching of singles events came to
her in the form of what is now known as Singles In Motion.com,
she didn't pursue the industry. "I saw that a few other
companies were offering singles events and activities, but their
charges prohibited many singles from enjoying their services.
Besides that, with millions of singles scattered everywhere, a
few event companies in a few major cities weren't really
providing an avenue for singles to meet each other," Ms. Clark
said in a recent interview.
In researching the web for
Singles In Motion.com, Ms. Clark noticed a few speed dating
services in a few cities and again found a niche with a glitch.
"Find a void and fill it," has always been her business goal
when developing a new commercial entity. "The idea was great,
but it needed refining. Our Rapid Romance Encounters® are really
different.
We
pre-match people before the event ever takes place so it doubles
the changes of finding someone to match with. I also knew how
impossible it would be to go around to every major city in the
US to hold such events, not to mention the fact that the fees
wouldn't even cover my plane fare, so I decided to open it up to
anyone who had the drive and stamina to open up their own Rapid
Romance Encounters® business. All the ground work is done; the
computer does most of the work and it's a great way to meet
other singles. Even part time a person can make a substantial
chunk of change."
And she was off on her latest
venture, her heart and soul full of the thrill she always gets
when participating in something that will improve the lives of
people in her community and in this case, she feels, the world.
"If you find yourself feeling lonely or sorry for yourself, just
dive into service. It's not the Band-Aid of pharmaceuticals,
it's a real cure for heartache."
Prior to this endeavor, Ms Clark
has owned several businesses, from products to franchises to
conventions. Most of what she considers substantially
successful, were productions and conventions in the event
business.
Ms Clark raised four children and
one foster child while developing business ideas over the past
twenty odd years. With much financial success her main happiness
comes from her success as a parent for she believes that no
amount of worldly success can compensate for failure in the
home.
